Pay: Starting $100k/yr. with flexibility

Position Summary

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Construction Manager to join our team. This role requires 100% onsite presence to project sites across California, Nevada, Georgia, and Arizona. The ideal candidate is a hands-on safety leader with extensive construction experience-especially in structural and light gauge steel projects-and demonstrated experience in solar energy construction and safety. This position demands a strong understanding of safety protocols specific to solar installations alongside traditional construction safety practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and programs in compliance with OSHA 1926, federal, state, and local regulations, including those specific to solar energy construction sites.
  • Conduct regular site audits and inspections at all project locations to identify hazards, ensure safe work practices, and maintain compliance with solar and steel erection safety standards.
  • Lead and deliver safety training sessions (fall protection, steel erection, hot work, confined space, solar-specific safety practices, etc.) for field crews and shop personnel.
  • Maintain comprehensive safety documentation, including incident reports, training records, inspection logs, and safety plans tailored to solar and steel projects.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, producing detailed reports and driving corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to integrate safety into all phases of project planning and execution, with emphasis on solar energy installation safety.
  • Manage site-specific safety plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and Pre-Task Planning documentation for each location.
  • Oversee and enforce PPE requirements, fall protection systems, and equipment certifications on every job site.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure continuous improvement in solar and steel construction safety.
  • Communicate safety performance and compliance effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and company leadership.
  • Champion a zero-incident culture, actively promoting safety awareness and accountability at every level.

Qualifications

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Certification (required).
  • CHST, CSP, or equivalent safety certification (preferred).
  • Certified OSHA 10/30 Trainer.
  • Certified Equipment Trainer (Aerial Lift, Forklift, Fall Protection).

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of safety management experience in the construction industry.
  • At least 2 years' experience with structural and/or light gauge steel projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in solar energy construction safety, including knowledge of photovoltaic system installation hazards and safety protocols.
  • Strong working knowledge of steel erection safety standards, including OSHA Subpart R.
  • Familiarity with solar-specific safety regulations and best practices is highly desirable.
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness and ability to travel 100% of the time to project sites in Martinez, Southern California, Nevada, Georgia, and Arizona.

  • Proven track record of effective incident investigation and hazard mitigation.
